Getting Started.

Our first updates on Asher

Asher Update 1 (11-2): To start, Asher is in good spirits and doing well. He is not requiring any help keeping all of his vitals at a normal level. Today we were told that Asher most likely has the most common form of childhood cancer, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). There are a few more tests needed to make an exact dx, but is in the lymphoma/leukemia family. We have been told that this is better than h...having a solid mass tumor of some sort (which is what they initially thought this was). We have been told that ALL is extremely treatable. There are still many unknowns and tests to be completed, but in the mean time we will be thanking God that there is a good treatment plan in place. We appreciate every uplifting note and prayer. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We have such a great support system and it has made the last few days bearable

Asher Update 2 (11-3): Today our sweet boy started chemotherapy. We spoke with his oncologists at great length and have a very good idea of how the next months and years of our lives will look. We know that his first phase of therapy will be intense and he will remain in the hospital for the next 28 days. The next few phases (about 6 months) will allow us to be at home most of the time and then he wi...ll be followed closely for about 3 years of outpatient therapy. The good news is that children with ALL are cured more than 9 out of 10 times. We know the road will be long and bumpy but we have faith that God will keep us strong and that Asher will finish therapy stronger than ever. Thank you for all the prayers and PLEASE keep them coming

Asher Update 3 (11-4): Visitor Restrictions. Thank you to everyone who has been supporting our family and coming to visit Asher. As of yesterday Asher started chemo and his immune system will get weaker and weaker. The visitor restrictions we have been given are as follows: visitors must be over the age of 14, free of cough, runny nose and fever. Also, they ask that all visitors get a flu shot if they have not already (Walgreens/CVS/Target offer them daily for about $25). Flu season is coming and Asher getting sick will set his treatment back. Thank you for understanding and we like seeing you!
